DAI in association with the Embassy of the Brazil in Kuwait, You’re invited to a special Latin Night “Waves of Brazil” with Yamandú Costa (7-String Guitar) The Brazilian seven-string guitar is an acoustic guitar used primarily in choroand samba. It was introduced to Brazil in the late 19th century as a steel string guitar. The style of “baixaria” counterpoint and accompaniment technique was developed throughout the 20th century, especially by Dino 7 Cordas and Raphael Rabello. In the early 1980s, guitarist Luiz Otavio Braga had a nylon string version made, and this has become the norm for most contemporary choro musicians such as Yamandú Costa.

He has been playing this traditional Punjabi folk instrument for more than 30 years. He is well known among Kuwaiti artists, with whom he has played and enjoyed music for the past 21 years that he has spent in Kuwait. Nasser Alqahtani is a pediatrician that fell in love with piano since the age of ten when he was a student of Sulaiman al-Dikkan. He has been playing and composing music ever since and tonight he will premier some of his compositions.

He was lecturer in Modern Middle East Politics at Exeter University and Visiting Professor at George Washington University.
