Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of the International Air Transport Association, Alexandre de Juniacpaid and Vice President for Africa and the Middle East, Mohammed Bakr paid a visit to The Amricani Cultural Centre and toured the various exhibitions: Splendors of the Ancient East, Loans from the Kuwait National Museum, and Long Ago Zoo- antiquities from The al-Sabah Collection.

Prof. Dr. Markus Hilgert the Secretary General and CEO of the Cultural Foundation of the German Federal States paid a visit to The Amricani Cultural Centre and toured the various exhibitions: Splendors of the Ancient East, Loans from the Kuwait National Museum, and Long Ago Zoo- antiquities from the Alsabah Collection. Tonight Dr. Hilgert will be presenting about “why culture matters: The impact of culture and cultural heritage on societal challenges and sustainable development” at the Yarmouk Cultural Centre.

Abdullah Al-Asousi school visited the Americani Cultural Centre and toured our exciting exhibitions; Splendors of the Ancient East, Loans from Kuwait National Museum and Long Ago Zoo. They also enjoyed watching the visual presentation about the historical story of The Amricani hospital in Kuwait. Our volunteer Museum Guides Nawal Al-Atiyah, Zainab Al-Qallaf and Aisha Al-Bader explained to the students the significance of the history and the objects on display.

The Mayor of Kos Island in Greece, Mr. George Kyritsis visited the Amricani Cultural Centre and toured the various exhibitions; Splendors of the Ancient East, Loans from the Kuwait National Museum, Long Ago Zoo, and The Story of Amricani. He showed his interest in the exhibitions and objects displayed from The al-Sabah Collection and at the end of the visit he signed the VIP guest book.

Between the rain storms, we were delighted to welcome 14 members of the Friends of Museé d’Orsay, headed by their President, Mr. Jean-Louis Milin on a visit to Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah this past Friday, 9 November. Coming up from Abu Dhabi, they enjoyed an insiders tour of The al-Sabah Collection by assistant curator, Mutlaq al-Juraid in the morning, followed by a guided tour of exhibitions at the Amricani Cultural Centre; “Splendors of the Ancient East”, “Long Ago Zoo”, “Loans from the Kuwait National Museum” and “Story of Amricani” given by DAI volunteer docents Maha al-Essa and Fatema Dashti.  

Enjefah Elementary School for Boys conducted a field trip to the Amricani Cultural Centre, where students visited several of the centre’s exhibitions, such as: The Splendors of the Ancient East, Memories of Peru, Modern Architecture Kuwait, in addition to the Story of Amricani, and Long Ago Zoo. The students showed great interest and admiration for the exhibited pieces.  

A group from Military Cooperation of US Embassy visited DAI Amricani Cultural Centre. DAI docent Ms. Fatma Dashti gave them tour of Splendors of the Ancient East, the Story of Americani Hospital, Long Ago Zoo, Loans from Kuwait National Museum and Modern Architecture in Kuwait. The exhibition of historical Peruvian photographs (1890 to 1950) in cooperation with the Embassy of Peru also of great interest.  

Teams from the Kuwait National Museum and the Abdullah al-Salem Cultural Centre were given a tour of the conservation and storage facilities and an introduction to the collection management system of The al-Sabah Collection at the Yarmouk Cultural Centre. The tour was organised by Maria Mertzani, lead conservator of the UNESCO project office in Kuwait and Nour al-Qattan, the UNDP project coordinator. The project is carried out in partnership with the NCCAL and Supreme Council for Planning and Development as part of an ongoing project for the Preservation and Promotion of Kuwait’s Cultural Heritage.
