Imperial China: Splendors of Qing Dynasty 1644-1911 was opened at Baur Foundation, musée des arts d’extrême-Orient in Geneva. It covers the periods of the rules of this dynasty the notable of whom was Kangxi (1662-1722) and Qianlong( 1711-1799). This originally Manchurian tribe tried to assert it’s ligetimacy by adopting Chinese way of life to be accepted by the Chinese. In fact Emperor Qianlong who read Chinese literature and was well versed in history and art was responsible for building the great monuments and introduced some European elements to Chinese architecture. The tour that was organised by Christie’s , the renowned auction house in London, led twenty art collectors to the exhibitions and private collectors in that exceptional neighbourhood.
