Imperial China: Splendors of Qing Dynasty 1644-1911 Exhibition Opening at Baur Foundation

Imperial China: Splendors of Qing Dynasty 1644-1911 was opened at Baur Foundation, musée des arts d’extrême-Orient in Geneva. It covers the periods of the rules of this dynasty the notable of whom was Kangxi (1662-1722) and Qianlong( 1711-1799). This originally Manchurian tribe tried to assert it’s ligetimacy by adopting Chinese way of life to be accepted by the Chinese. In fact Emperor Qianlong who read Chinese literature and was well versed in history and art was responsible for building the great monuments and introduced some European elements to Chinese architecture. This emperor was fascinated by Indian art and had commissioned some spectacular objects of jewellery and jade to be made at the Mughal royal workshops espicially for his court in Bijjing.
