BSK brought more than a dozen student teachers to the Amricani Cultural Centre for a very special visit. Working with the DAI Education Team, the soon-to-be teachers took on the role of students and explored the museum using some Harvard University Project Zero Thinking Routines. Many were experiencing the Thinking Routines for the first time; all agreed the routines are a valuable tool for any classroom.

US Chargé d’ Affaires Visits the Amricani Cultural Centre
US Chargé d’ Affaires Jim Holtsnider and members of his team traded in the American Embassy for the Amricani Cultural Centre. The group toured both the “al-Fann” and “Mirrored Nature” exhibitions and the multi-media presentation “Story of Amricani”. The visit gave the acting ambassador the chance to tour the space and discover more about the early relationship between Kuwait and the United States.

A Group from the Kuwait National Museum Visit the Amricani Cultural Centre
In order to share experience, a group from the Kuwait National Museum paid a visit to the Amricani Cultural Centre. They explored various current exhibitions of DAI; al-Fann: Art from The Islamic Civilization from The al-Sabah Collection, Mirrored Nature: The Full Circle exhibition, Story of Amricani, and Modern Architecture in Kuwait 1949-1989. It was a fruitful cultural visit for everyone.

End of GUST- Department of English and Translation Internship Program
An internship program, organised in cooperation with GUST- Department of English and Translation, has come to the end. The interns completed 12 hours of work, translating the labels for the Modern Architecture in Kuwait (MAK) exhibition at the Amricani Cultural Centre. It was a culturally enriching experience for all students, who had the chance to work in a professional capacity for a popular institution. We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Asma Al-Duhaim for her cooperation and interest in the programs of Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah. In order to exchange experiences and discuss ways to cooperate between the National Bank of Kuwait and Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah, a team from the Department of Public Relations and Events at the National Bank of Kuwait visited the Collection Office at the Yarmouk Cultural Centre. They explored The al-Sabah Collection and learned about the method of preserving and archiving art pieces.

EU Ambassador to Kuwait and Qatar Dr Cristian Tudor and his wife Elena visited the Amricani Cultural Centre today to explore The al-Sabah Collection exhibitions and the Story of Amricani. This was their first visit to the museum but said it won’t be their last.

H.E. Dr. Salah Amer al Kharusi, Ambassador of The Sultanate of Oman to Kuwait paid a visit to the Amricani Cultural Centre today and was toured with Ms. Sarah Behbehani at al-Fann: Art from The Islamic Civilization and Story of Amricani. He showed special interest in various galleries and talked about the future collaboration between the two countries.

Sheikha Intissar Salim al-Ali al-Sabah, arranged a tour of the The al-Sabah Collection with the curator Salam Kaoukji, during which their excellencies the Argentinian ambassador Mrs Claudia Alejandra Zampieri, the Vietnamese ambassador, Mr Ngo Toan Thang, the ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium, Mr Marc Trenteseau, the ambassador of Italy, Mr Carlo Balducci and Mrs. Balducci, and the CEO of Huawei, Kuwait, Mr. Rico Lin visited the pre-Islamic and Islamic collections as well as the conservation laboratory at work on the South Arabian collection.
