The DAI sent a cultural expedition to Jeddah, KSA 8 – 9 March to attend the Islamic Art Biennale. Themed Hawwal Bayt – First House, the biennale was the first of its kind and the most significant showcase of contemporary Islamic art (including works of young Kuwaiti artists) and historical artefacts held in the region. Parallel to Hawwal Bayt, the Biennale also recognised the 40th anniversary of the Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah/The al-Sabah Collections and its patron Sheikh Nasser Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah with a special exhibition featuring 130 objects from The al-Sabah Collection.
The entire experience was perfectly curated by a team of scholars/experts and the DAI delegation considered the visit “a true honour.”
