Director General, Sheikha Hussa Sabah al-Salem al-Sabah, Attends the Directors’ Meeting of the Fund for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in Areas of Military Conflicts, in Geneva

Sheikha Hussa Sabah al-Salem al-Sabah, Director General, Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah, leaves to Geneva to attend the directors’ meeting of the Fund for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in Areas of Military Conflicts to be held on 12 October. The fund was founded by Kuwait, UAE, KSA, France, UNESCO, and interested individuals from Europe and headed by the former Minister of Culture in France, the present President of L’Institut du Monde Arabe, Mr. Jack Lang.

ALIPH( International Fund for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in Areas of Conflect) held its board meeting on 12th October 2017, at the renowned “Alabama” room at the Town Hall in the old city of Geneva. The significance of this room goes back to 1871 when the famous Alabama Claim was signed to end the diplomatic dispute between Britain and USA. The board meeting of ALIPH voted for Mr. Thomas Kaplan as it’s new president with two vice-presidents; Mr. Jack Lang and Mr. Mohammad al-Mubarak, the representative of UAE, who with France were the initiators of ALIPH.
