Cultural Season 20th

2014-2015

Trip to Iran

Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah (DAI) organises cultural expeditions for its members, Friends of Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah, to a nearby region. This year that place is the Islamic Republic of Iran. From 14- 25 April, Friend of Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah will explore the Persian lands with pre-arranged accommodations, transportation, meals; and of course guides that are well-versed on the subjects and provide a good mix of facts, history and legend.

On the first leg of their trip, they visited the city of Shiraz, the sixth most populous city of Iran and the capital of Fars Province, and Persepolis, the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire. They visited the tombs of two Persian poets whose works are regarded as the pinnacle of Persian literature, Hafez Shirazi and Saadi Shirazi. They also visited Nasir al-Mulk, Narenjestan Museum, Arg (Castle) of Karim Khan, Vakil Bath and Bazaar, Bagh-e Eram, and Darvazeh Qor’an. In Persepolis, they visited Takht-e Jamshid, Naqsh-e Rostam, Naqsh-e Rajab, and Shah Cheragh Mosque.
