Nuria Torres Santo Domingo’s lecture on “Manuscripts from al-Andalus in Spain”.
Nuria Torres Santo Domingo is a Spanish librarian that specialized in Arabic culture and Islamic civilization. She was the director of different types of libraries and collections, most of them related to the Arabic and Islamic culture: The National Library of Madrid, Cervantes Institute (Beirut and Rabat, Paris), Islamic Library of Madrid, Casa Árabe and eventually Ministry of Defence. She was in charge of the automated process of these libraries using Arabic script in the bibliographic database.
Her lecture touched upon her restoration work to digitize collections from the library and participation in preparing national and international archives. Moreover, how the Kingdom of Spain featured many Arabic manuscripts and drew many perspectives from the historical circumstances of the time.
