Salam Kaoukji. “The Shared Lineage of a European and Indian Dagger”

Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah’s Senior Curator and Manager of the al-Sabah Collection Salam Kaoukji. Gave a lecture titled “The Shared Lineage of a European and Indian Dagger”.

Among her many achievements, Salam has most recently curated the exhibition Dhikr al-Maknun: Verses from the Holy Qur’an on Works of Art, and Arts of Islamic Lands: Selections from the al-Sabah Collection on loan to the Museum of Fine Arts Houston.

Her lecture examined the journey of a Bronze Age dagger hilt from the East, through northwest Iran, to Europe during the Greek and Roman periods, and its re-emergence in the East in the 16th century CE.
