Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah’s Curator Deborah Freeman Fahid in her lecture on “The Ager Rock Crystal Chess Pieces in the al-Sabah Collection”.
Fahid is not only the Curator of Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah’s own Splendors of the Ancient East: Antiquities from the al-Sabah Collection exhibition, but is also the head of publications and a contributing author to Kings and Pawns: Board Games from India to Spain exhibition at the Museum of Islamic Art (Doha). Her lecture focused on rock crystals, one of the most highly prized materials that was used to make luxury objects in the medieval Islamic world.
